Ramen ensemble is a holistic theatrical science essay about the ubiquitous instant noodle, also known as Ramen.

Korea is a top consumer of Ramen worldwide, with a staggerings 80 units per head, per year.

The spectacle analysed the underlying social symbols, public rituals, and scientific facts, as an unconventional amalgam of parody, science, and emotion.

The project was approached as a scientific spectacle, creating a scientific artwork about the theme of the instant noodle.

Scientific demonstrations were common public ritual in the age of enlightenment.

Kim Kim Gallery invested collaborative research with scientists, writers and art critiques who doubled as scientists/actors/show masters on stage.

이 책은 2012년 페스티벌 봄 상연작인 <라면 앙상블>의 작품집으로 출간되었다. <라면학>은 공연의 이모저모를 담아내는 동시에, 또다른 형태로 창조된 공연의 장이다. <라면 앙상블>에서 과학자들의 발표를 통해 소개되었던 "라면이라는 블랙박스"는 학술논문의 형태로 새롭게 기술되고, 논문 안에서 라면은 다시 한번, 과학의 언어와 예술의 언어로 재해석된다. <라면학>은 과학과 예술, 저자와 독자, 퍼포먼스와 기록, 과거와 미래를 잇는 경계물이자, 라면학이라는 새로운 과학-예술 융합 분과를 여는 물질적 시점이라 볼 수 있다.
