The show will be a movement from almost nothing to something and beyond, an archipelago of metaphoric works with meta-narratives. It is a show about connecting things and representing this connection. It is about identity and the cookie-cutter identical. We will use the form in question to create a system of sculptures, not by juxtaposition but by morphing different objects, introducing a sense of order into the chaos of consumer culture, and counterpointing the neutrality of the block, decentralizing it. It is about something which is neutral, positive and obviously bland, which is a projection onto the object already.
The show will deal with structure, placement, position, contingency, an economy among objects. The morphed objects are not celebrated but put into question, positing it in relation to facture and underscoring it in terms of authorship and originality. The work associates itself with the rituals of exhbition. The chosen objects, found or gifts, things from the flea market or borrowed from friends will build a social interaction.
I
We will build molds in order to build Poly-Urethan-Foam blocks casts, which will contain one or more partly-imersed objects like: Samsonite luggages, lava-lamps, furniture, cuddly toys, art pieces, china, artificial Fire-places and other items from our collection, found or gifts, things from the flea market or borrowed from friends. The Block of Poly-Urethan-Foam containing the semi-immersed objects will be painted in a whitish hue. The size of the blocks vary with the size of the foreign object. The immersed objects will indicate the proportions of the Poly-Urethan-Foam block.
The sculptures are displaid in a manner of arranging them in superstructures.
II
We will be build a Tofu shaped white or semi-transparent Tent. The proportions of the tent will be those of the widely used “Mo” unit used for Tofu. The tent will have no entrance.
III
We will produce a wallpaper of drawings which will bring several observations and attentions to the surrounding world and its essential detail: the handsome tofu. Telling abstract stories, making use of analogies, comparisons and parallels. We will juxtapose themes that accumulate and recur in our collective conscience. These include ideas such as the reflection, the vision, and the positive: human categories and situations will be abstracted from reality.
IV
There will be a mulit-media projection with a trompe l’oeil drawing of Tofu.
