Sharon is Karen, could of course well two trashy American female first names, which sound similar enough.
The underlying probable meaning is that “sharing is caring”, which sounds exactly the same, thus is a homophone. It is of course of humorous character and maybe describes a pun, we so often use. Why do we use them?
Why would you do such a thing. Because to say it with the voice of the Charlatan-sadist-genius Jacques Lacan: “I think where I am not, therefore I am where I do not think. I am not whenever I am the plaything of my thought; I think of what I am where I do not think to think.” Shortly it´s a split cogito ergo sum. Now we actually are wiser. And by the way it´s not true, if I share my poverty, stupidity, ignorance, lack of sensitivity, destructiveness, debts, gambling addiction, depression, panic attacks, virus load, athlete’s foot, pink eye, and sadistic inclination with somebody, it´s without a doubt the opposite of caring.
There is of course a TV show in the US and maybe UK I never ever saw and diverse blogs and stuff. Let me take a butcher’s hook, I am supposed to know about that: Yup: the name Sharon was used in the UK alongside "Tracey" as a snobbish, classist slur to stereotype young working-class women. This association has largely faded.
Modern contrast: In a modern meme that contrasts her with "Karen," a "Sharon" is portrayed as a kind, appreciative, and patient person, the opposite of the entitled "Karen" stereotype.
Modern pejorative: "Karen" is a widely known pejorative slang term for a woman perceived as entitled, demanding, or racist.
Origins: The meme gained popularity around 2020 and is often used to call out privileged and overbearing behavior, such as demanding to "speak to the manager". It´s a not uncommon phrasing and not true. It also means that Sharon, the woman, is actually, the woman Karen, which might be funny.
Another plot describes a factual statement that the two names or people are the same. In the skit, a man's partner insists her name is Sharon, but he, having forgotten her name, repeatedly calls her Karen.
The humor comes from his clumsy attempt to remember her name and her reaction.
But we have to take humour seriously there is so much to learn from it. // Where do all these artists come from: The technical term for ‘impersonating another style of artwork and using another artist name shall be called “phrenonymy” We think it´s actually German and has no translation into english, so take it as a neologism.
It points us to a certain type of pseudonymy, that indicates a state of mind or character trait instead of an alias. As in the work of Fernando Pesso, who used dozens of phrenonyms, it also refers to yours truly being diagnosed with a rare condition of non-traumatic Dissociative Identity Disorder, which is entertaining, results from fantasy play and role playing gotten out of hand. Why so late in life? Because you cannot see yourself seeing.
That´s where Alex Search comes from, Fernando Pessoa´s first phrenonyme ever, I think it came over him in elementary school. Not by chance our favorite poet. If you are interested consult “the tobacco shop” from 1928, poetry does not get much better than that. Eat, dirty little girl, eat!
The rest of the artists are pure products of phantuhsees but have their own bio, nationality, mentality, style, you name it etc. Limonov is the name of a Russian punk poet turned reactionary politician “the true Russia”, and stuff like that, or Dietmar Hagen, exist because Gregory was brought up in a boring town called Hagen, which is kind of like a bad joke of city he loves. And Hagen can be a name, because Hagen is the giant, who killed Siegfried and so on.
Yes, of course I knew a guy his name was Hagen Hagen and he lived in Hagen, mean parents. Anyway share and enjoy. "Let the show go on-dola!"
