김나영 & 그레고리 마스의 출품작 Acceptance는 플라토 옥외공간을 위해 제작된 장소특정적 설치작품으로, 눈에 띄지 않고 설치가 어려운 공간의 조건들을 제목 그대로 '수용'하고 이에 따른 풍경의 의미를 모색한 작업이다.
밝은 형광등 불빛으로 'PERFECT'라 쓴 글자들은 어둡고 비좁은 설치공간을 '완벽한'이란 단어로 새로운 풍경으로 탈바꿈시키고자 한 작품의 의도를 담고 있다.
또한 작가는 오늘날 도심을 가득 메운 네온사인을 연상시키는 작품의 불빛을 통해 경제와 소비의 현대적 사회 풍경을 드러냄과 동시에 그 동안 미술사에서 이상화된 '완벽한' 풍경이 현대사회에서 더 이상 존재하는가 의문한다.
Nayoungim & Gregory Maass' Acceptance is a site-specific installation produced for the outdoor courtyard of PLATEAU. As the title suggests, the installation expresses the artists' "acceptance" of the given space, and their genuine attempts to recreate a new landscape within the spatial restrictions. As a result, the letters "PERFECT" written out in bright fluorescent lights transform the dark and narrow space into a "perfectly" new landscape. The installation, which imitates the bright neon lights that saturate the city's skyline, also refers to the social landscape of economy and consumerism, questioning whether truly "perfect" landscape still exists today.
