Here
is a list of the items that have visited my own secret space so far. A
pair of stiletto heels with big eyes, a pony with a stubby nose wearing
horn-rimmed glasses and shouting an 'idiot', an extinguished lamp like
an old castle, two pairs of shadows bent toward opposite directions -
These make me feel how cruel life is.- A fish embedded in the ice like a
jewel, Mrs. Y's rosette purse whose zipper is broken, five hands'
pinwheel - It whistles with its hands - A talkative stereo resembling a
toaster, Miss P's Barbie having a broken leg, a pipe that becomes
endlessly wider toward the end, and sisters in a birdcage made of
cornstalks.
Sisters were the first and the last humans who stayed in my space. Afterwards, my space just disappeared.
It may have drifted into somebody's dream, I
believe. If I find that person, he will tell me a story. "A pony
wearing stiletto heels is searching for the bent shadows adjusting its
horn-rimmed glasses. Then, a fish that just woke up from the ice is
hanging around with a lamp in its hand and turns on the stereo as if it
is bored. Music is playing on the stereo and a Barbie doll with a broken
leg walks out of the music and starts to run with a waddle having a
pinwheel in her mouth. Three caged sisters peacefully looking at this
sight say, 'What is this place and why ever is it devoid of a thing
looking like a human?' I say then, this is an open space. Everyone might
have one and it shouldn't be exposed to the world. One day, I was given
this space as a gift in my dream."

것들의 목록을 여기에 기록합니다. 눈이
큰 뾰족 구두 한 켤레, 뿔테안경을 낀
바보라고 외치는 코가 뭉툭한 망아지, 낡은
성처럼 불 꺼진 등잔, 서로 반대쪽으로
구부러진 그림자 두 쌍 - 이것을 볼 때면
나는 인생이 얼마나 잔인한가를 느낍니다.- 얼음
속에 보석처럼 박혀 있는 물고기, 지퍼가
고장 난 Y부인의 장미꽃무늬 핸드백, 손이 다섯 개인 바람개비 - 그것은 손으로 휘파람을 붑니다 - 빵 굽는 토스트기를 닮은 수다스러운 전축과 한쪽 다리가 부러진 P양의 바비 인형, 한없이 끝이 넓어지는 파이프, 그리고 옥수숫대로 엮어 만든 새장 속에 갇힌 언니들.
언니들만이 사람으로서 최초이자 마지막으로
나의 공터에 다녀갔습니다. 그 뒤로 나의
공터는 어딘가로 사라져 버렸습니다.
사라진 공터는 분명 누군가의 꿈속으로
흘러들어갔을 것이라 나는 믿습니다. 만약
그 누군가를 만난다면 그는 이런 얘기를 나에게 들려줄 것입니다. “뾰족구두를 신은 망아지가 뿔테안경을 고쳐 쓰고 구부러진 그림자를 찾고
있는 거야. 그때 얼음 속에서
지금 막 잠이 깬 물고기가 꺼진 등잔을 들고 그 옆을 서성이다 따분한 듯 전축을 틀고 있어. 전축에선 노래가 흘러나오고 다리가 부러진 바비 인형이 노래 속에서
걸어 나와 바람개비를 입에 물고 뒤뚱뒤뚱 뛰어가지 뭐야. 이 광경을 새장 속에 갇힌 세 명의 언니들이 평화롭게 쳐다보고 있는데, 그 언니들이 이렇게 말해. ‘대체 여긴 어딘데 사람답게 생긴 것들이 없니?’ 그럼 난 이렇게 말해. 여긴 공텁니다. 누구나 하나쯤은 가지고 있는 절대 세상에 들켜서는 안 되는 공텁니다. 전 이 공터를 어느 날 꿈속에서 선물 받았지요.”
이 공터를 어떻게 다시 빼앗지요?
